This stunning development near Clapham, London, used to be a hearing aid factory which has now been turned into an impressive development of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments with a choice between living in the converted mansion or opting for the new-build section to the rear.

The project was originally specified as a very expensive, low-profile system. However, whilst working with the mechanical, builder, consultant and architect, we were able to design a bespoke system that suited everyone involved and resulted in huge cost savings!

On the ground floor, a simple MERCURY ATLAS was installed with the screed and insulation undertaken by the builder. On the upper levels, we laid a 5mm acoustic layer under a MERCURY 25mm XPS routed insulation board and topped it off with a 6mm cement board. This is the first project that we have completed using the 6mm cement board this way and we’re pleased to report it as a huge success.

In addition to the flooring, we also supplied and installed MERCURY electric underfloor heating mats into the bathroom floor and walls. The wall mats were installed behind a towel rail to assist drying towels and also prevent mirrors from steaming up.

As you would expect, this living space high-spec and we’re pleased to have been able to design, supply and install underfloor heating into all 19 apartments.

Over 1,000m2 of pipework, 21 manifolds and 79 Neo thermostats make up this job with a mixture of warm water systems throughout the living and sleeping areas and electric underfloor heating in the bathrooms.
