Supporting Mosaic in 2024.

UFHN, the award-winning underfloor heating company is proud to announce their continued support for Mosaic- Supporting bereaved children throughout 2024. This commitment comes after a successful fundraising drive in the previous year, where the company raised over £1200 for the vital Dorset-based charity.

“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our staff, customers and partners during our fundraising efforts for Mosaic last year”, says Paul Lines, Managing Director. “The vital work they do in supporting bereaved children and their families in Dorset truly resonated with us and we’re delighted to continue our partnership into 2024”.

Mosaic offers bereavement and support services to children and their families across Dorset who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Through a variety of programmes and activities, Mosaic provides a safe and supportive space for children to express their grief and begin the healing process.

“We are bowled over to receive such support from UFHN and want to say a very big thank you to their staff and customers. Every pound that is donated goes directly into supporting a child or young person who is struggling to come to terms with the loss of someone they love. We work across Dorset supporting all our communities, and UFHN’s leadership and charitable endeavour is a beacon, lighting the path to better, kinder care for children”. CEO, Mosaic.

UFHN are excited to announce several fundraising events planned throughout 2024. These events will provide further opportunities for the community to get involved and contribute to Mosaic’s work.

Mosaic is also actively seeking partnerships with other Dorset-based businesses that share their commitment to supporting the local community. Businesses interested in learning more about sponsorship or fundraising opportunities are encouraged to contact Mosaic directly at www.mosaicfamilysupport.org.

Baking a difference for Mosaic.

There’s no better way to unite people than over a slice of delicious cake. And when that cake sale is for a good cause, the impact is even sweeter!

At the beginning of May, we held our first fundraising event for our nominated charity of the year, Mosaic – supporting bereaved children. Whilst the country was building up for the coronation celebration, we got the bunting out, paper plates, napkins and cake stands to host a bake sale fit for a king! From French fancies and lemon drizzle cake to chocolate brownies, coffee & walnut and more, we were spoilt for choice.

Thanks to everyone involved, we raised £150 for Mosaic which would pay for three counselling sessions for children/young people and could include Early Bereavement Intervention (these are for shortly after the death of a loved one), or Pre-Bereavement counselling. It would also pay for three children/young people to attend of the activity days.

UFHN fundraising for Mosaic – supporting bereaved children

UFHN are pleased to announce its fundraising pledge to local Dorset charity, Mosaic – supporting bereaved children.

The award-winning underfloor heating company has several fundraising events planned for the year to help raise vital funds for Mosaic, which are based in Milborne St Andrew, Blandford. The charity was established in 2007 following the identification of a clear gap in the provision for bereaved children in Dorset.

Whilst there was a small amount of support offered to children whose parents were dying of terminal illnesses, there was no support for other causes of death. Mosaic provides support to any young person who has experienced the death of a parent, grandparent, sibling, other close relative, friend or loved one and is finding it difficult to understand and express the overwhelming feeling grief can bring.

Paul Lines UFHN Managing Director says, “To lose a close family member at such a young age has a profound impact and the work that Mosaic does to provide a cohesive framework of support before, during and after the death of a loved one can make a huge difference to young people and their families”.

“All the staff at UFHN will do all we can to help contribute to the counselling sessions, activity days and residential weekends that Mosaic provides to our local community”.

Zoe Minogue Hughes, Mosaic’s Corporate Fundraiser said, “We are thrilled that UFHN has chosen to sponsor and fundraise for Mosaic. As a charity, we rely on generous donations, grants and support from corporate and community work.

“It has been a challenging time for all charities following the pandemic along with the current economic uncertainties, so we are very keen to raise awareness of Mosaic – supporting bereaved children across Dorset – partnering with UFHN will certainly help us do this. It is a privilege to work with so many families at school and in their homes. Our therapists have skills to really make a difference to families we work with to allow children to work through their grief and look forwards”.

Baking for Macmillan

It’s no secret that our favourite event of the year is Baking for Macmillan. This year was no exception with a tremendous effort by all staff who baked a mixture of sweet treats from Lemon drizzle cake and Dorset Apple Cake to chocolate brownies, banana bread and much more. We’re still collecting donations but it’s looking like it’s our record year yet and we’ll update you when the final amount is counted.

This is the 4th year that we’ve hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning as it’s a cause that has personally helped some of our staff members and their families. It’s not just about cake, it’s about giving back to this charity so they can continue to provide incredible support and advice for individuals suffering from cancer and their families.

Bournemouth Supersonic 10k

There’s a couple of achy legs at HQ this week, after Business Development Manager Mark Green and Internal Sales Manager, Simon Frankland ran the annual Bournemouth Supersonic 10K in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, a cause very close to both of them.

The Supersonic 10K is an increasingly popular race distance and is a fantastic flat and fast course that takes in the beautiful sights along Bournemouth beach and the surrounding area. Attended by both amateur and club racers alike, the event is fun and the sunshine was shining for everyone on Sunday.

Between Mark and Simon, the pair raised over £1000 and have already signed up for next year’s Bournemouth half marathon where the course takes in both Boscombe and Bournemouth piers along the coastal route.

Let them eat cake for Macmillan.

On Wednesday 22nd September we hosted our very own Coffee Morning to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. This is one of our favourite fundraising events of the year as we have a few budding bakers amongst us, plus we are all partial to cake!

It seems that coinciding the event with the first episode of The Great British Bake Off had rubbed off, as the team tucked into some wonderful homemade treats such as jam tarts, salted caramel victoria sponge, chocolate brownies and mars bar cake to name a few and we’re delighted to say we raised £130.

Over the three years that we’ve been hosting the event, we have raised £500 that we are pleased to hear could go towards a Macmillan Support worker for a week, helping patients, family members and carers manage the social and practical problems of living with cancer.
